DESCRIPTION:Conducted & composed by Micheal Rooney \n\n\nPerformed by Music Generation Cavan Monaghan Youth Folk Orchestra\nDirected by: Tommy Mc Ardle\nPresented and narrated by – Sean Rocks \nThe innovative suite was commissioned by renowned musician\, composer\, and musical director Michael Rooney\, with a script crafted by esteemed writer Tommy McArdle. “A Deep Ravine” tells the story of life on the border\, delivering a profound creative response to the era of partition and offering deeper insights into the significant events of that time. Audiences are encouraged to reflect on the lives of individuals living 100 years ago on the newly established border as two separate states\, North and South\, came into existence. \nThe performance comes to life through the talents of the recently formed Music Generation Cavan/Monaghan Cross Border Youth Folk Orchestra. These young musicians\, hailing from Cavan\, Monaghan\, Tyrone\, Fermanagh\, Scotland\, and Ukraine\, represent a diverse range of musical genres. They are joined by talented local actors from Monaghan and Cavan. Presented and narrated by RTÉ host and MC Sean Rocks. \nPresented by Music Generation Cavan Monaghan\nSponsored by Monaghan County Council and Cavan County Council\, through The Department of Tourism\, Culture\, Arts\, Gaeltacht\, Sport\, and Media\, under The Community Strand of the 2023 Decade of Centenaries Programme and Creative Ireland Programme 2023. \n\nTickets are available here.
