SUMMER HARP OPPORTUNITIES
Harpers’ Residency at The Tyrone Guthrie Centre 2023

Cruit Éireann | Harp Ireland is delighted to partner with the Tyrone Guthrie Centre at Annaghmakerrig, Co Monaghan again in 2023 to offer a 2 week residency for harpers and harper-composers, living on the island of Ireland. Located near Newbliss in Co Monaghan, The Tyrone Guthrie Centre provides the perfect haven of seclusion and quiet to enable creativity to flourish; harp players will be able to avail of its numerous facilities ranging from a composer’s room to a custom-designed performance studio with state-of-the-art facilities.

“We are excited by our collaboration with Cruit Éireann│Harp Ireland” said Dr Éimear O’Connor, Director of the Tyrone Guthrie Centre, “We welcome artists across all art forms. This partnership and bursary will enable harpers across the island of Ireland to spend time with us, and it acknowledges the importance of our national symbol and its living heritage”.

One of CÉHI’s strategic priorities is to find new ways to support harpers and nurture excellence and creativity at all levels. The residency will offer the much-needed time and space for a harper, or harper-composer to focus their creative energies on a harp-related project. “We are looking forward to supporting another harper to develop their practice in this inspiring setting” said Lauren Ní Néill, CÉHI’s CEO. “There is so much creativity among the harping community; it can be channelled in a very positive direction through an opportunity like this”, she added.

This residency is open to harpers and harper-composers, both established and emerging in the Traditional Arts and/or Music sectors. The selection process will be based on a CV and letter of application, which clearly outlines the rationale for ‘time spent’ at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre.

To apply for this residency, please submit your application clearly marked The Tyrone Guthrie Centre Harp Residency to info@harpireland.ie by 5.30pm on Friday 28th April 2023.
