Beart Bunting, directed by Deaglán Ó Mochain. Six of Ireland’s finest traditional musicians join with Strabane Brass Band to explore and perform a neglected part of the Edward Bunting collection – a manuscript of mainly military music such as regimental marches, retreats and quick-steps collected alongside traditional Irish airs and tunes – reflecting the turbulent political reality of Ireland before and after the 1798 rebellion.

Would you like to learn more about, and even get your hands on a copy of an ancient Irish harp – and be taught a tune? Meet the Historical Harp Society of Ireland, hear this rare instrument played, have your questions answered, and – if you sign up early enough – take one of the few places in a hands-on beginners’ workshop. Listen to early Irish harp music with Siobhán Armstrong, find out more about it’s fascinating history at a 45-minute illustrated talk with Simon Chadwick, and join a 75-minute, hands-on workshop for beginners with Eibhlís Ní Ríordáin. Harps copied from medieval to 18th-century originals will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

This year the challenge was extended to the fathers, partners and boyfriends of the harpers and we look forward to the debut performance of the Dads and Lads Harp Ensemble on October 21st this year.

The Ohio Renaissance Festival
Every Festival Day on the stage at Saint Peter’s Cathedral, Jay and Abby Michaels: The Harper and The Minstrel perform Medieval, Renaissance, and Celtic music on a dozen or more instruments. Jay Michaels is The Royal Harper of the Festival playing three different Harps; a reproduction 15th Century Gothic Bray Harp, a small wire-strung Harp, and a more contemporary Electric Harp.  Abby Michaels is the Village Minstrel.
On October 21, The Ohio Renaissance Festival will celebrate Lá na Cruite | Harp Day by featuring The Harper and The Minstrels performances at Saint Peter’s Cathedral at Noon, 2 pm, and 5:30 pm. They will perform Harp Music from the Celtic Lands and beyond going back as far as the 11th century.

Harp Day 2023 celebration in my hometown Ansan, South Korea, with the support of Irish Association of Korea.
It starts with the interview for Sceálta, a podcast program of Irish Association of Korea. The interview will be about why I play Irish music on the harp. After that, I introduce Harp Day 2023 and Irish harp music to my guests in Ansan. I will play some of my compositions and Michael Rooney’s harp music.
