Lá na Cruite | Harp Day 2022

This year Lá na Cruite│Harp Day takes place on Saturday 15th October 2022 and we’re calling on harpers and harp teachers from all corners of the world to send us your videos for HARPERS CALL. We would love you to submit a 2-minute video recording which will be shared online on 15th October. We’re inviting harpers at all levels of experience, from every corner of the world, to share a performance or compose and record a new tune. Videos should be sent via WeTransfer or Google Drive to info@harpireland.ie by Sunday 2nd October 2022.

Our theme this year is Harps Together. With so much division in the world, we are shining a spotlight on music’s ability to unite us. In 2022 we are also celebrating the 230th Anniversary of the Belfast Harpers’ Assembly. In 1792, Belfast’s cultural leaders united to stimulate public interest in what they deemed to be a tradition at risk. The legacy of the Assembly, and of the work undertaken by Edward Bunting to notate the music collected, has inspired and influenced future generations of harpers right up to the present day. Harpers’ Call 2022 offers a perfect opportunity to celebrate their work.

We would prefer a landscape video (not portrait) in HD so we can do it justice. Please send the high res video to info@harpireland.ie through www.wetransfer.com (or Dropbox or Google Drive) rather than email or WhatsApp. The email version will probably be too small. If you have any difficulty with these please email mary.guinan@harpireland.ie and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Please submit your video by Sunday, 2nd October to be sure of inclusion.

Meanwhile, have a look at our wonderful Harpers’ Call videos from last year:
