Summer Harping

Be in with a chance to attend Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy 2024

Cruit Éireann | Harp Ireland, in partnership with Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy, is pleased to sponsor two harpers to attend the Willie Clancy Summer School to support the rapidly growing interest in Irish harping at Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy; the week-long traditional music summer school in Milltown Malbay, Co. Clare, taking place this year between 6th and 14th of July.

During this week, harpers will be exposed to the finest harp teachers, traditional musicians, recitals and concerts, making for an immersive learning experience. “The harp recital at the summer school has become a major attraction for the general public and is now considered one of the highlights of the week’s programme of events, while the number of students participating has grown steadily since we began in 2007” said Harry Hughes, Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy Director. “We are very happy to support the attendance of Irish harpers and to acknowledge the very positive work being done by both organisations”.

“Cruit Éireann | Harp Ireland’s ongoing partnership with Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy offers an opportunity for harpers to learn from master musicians and to develop their own creative practice as we strive to safeguard and nurture the harping tradition here, whilst ensuring that accessibility to harp tuition is available to all”, said Lauren Ní Néill, CÉHI’s CEO. “The two lucky recipients will immerse themselves within the living tradition at Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy, as we support and strengthen a vibrant, new generation of harpers.” You can find out more about Scoil Samhraidh                                                                                                      Willie Clancy at https://www.scoilsamhraidhwillieclancy.com/
