National Harp Day 2019

Wicklow Highlights

Harpers from Bray CCÉ participated in the Harp Marathon at the Lexicon Library, Dún Laoghaire again this year. This was their third year playing at the event, which is always a highlight of the year. The group rehearse in Bray, Co. Wicklow and are taught by Rachel Duffy. Six harpers – Lucy Bampton, Jasmine Ní Chinnéide, Catherine Ní Fhearraigh, Camille Heffernan, Marian Kenny and Eoin Mac Thomáis – were joined by Catherine’s sisters Olivia and Laura Ní Fhearraigh on fiddle and concertina.

The music was introduced by Lucy Bampton and comprised a mixture of dance tunes, harpers airs and newly composed pieces from Ireland and Scotland in sets and solos.

The ensemble really enjoyed the event and having the chance to be a part of National Harp Day again. The harpers loved seeing the variety of styles and performances taking place throughout the day and are looking forward to National Harp Day 2020!
