HARP DAY WEXFORD

St Michael’s Church Gorey, Gorey Library, Woodturning Studio on Arklow Road, Gorey, the Gorey Rangers grounds, The Old Mill in Craanford, and the Ashdown Park Hotel.

During the morning harp players performed at pop up harp recitals around County Wexford.
Aileen Kennedy held a ‘Hands on Harp’ session in Gorey Library at 10.30am. The hands on harp event in Gorey Library, gave people the opportunity to get up close and personal with the harp and getting a feel for it by running their fingers along the strings.
“It was great to see the joy that the harp brought to the different people who tried out the instrument,” said Aileen.
Lunchtime Harp Concert with Cruitirí Loch Garman/Wexford Harp Ensemble in St. Michael’s Church, Gorey. Special guests included the ‘Mothers and Others’ Ensemble and ‘Dads and Lads’ Ensemble. The concert was streamed on the parish webcam.Members of the ensemble celebrated Harp Day by also hosting pop-up concerts across Wexford in quite the unusual settings including fields with animals, the Gorey Rangers grounds, The Old Mill in Craanford, and the Ashdown Park Hotel to name a few.
Harpmaker Robert O’Connor displayed harps at various stages of production in the Woodturning Studio on Arklow Road, Gorey during the day.
