Cruit: Harpers’ Gathering

Cruit: Harpers’ Gathering

On Friday, 17th and Saturday, 18th July, Cruit Éireann | Harp Ireland, in partnership with Dublin TradFest and with the generous support of Donegal County Council, presents Cruit: Harpers’ Gathering.

Cruit Island lies off the coast of Donegal. The name Cruit describes the beautiful hilly landscape of the island, and it’s a wonderful coincidence that the name Cruit is also associated with what we know as the Irish Harp.

Inspired by the vision of TradFest patron and celebrated actor Stephen Rea, who calls Cruit Island home, a gathering of harpers and poets will come together on the island’s shores — in the intimate surrounds of Halla Mhuire and St. Mary’s Church, which stands at the water’s edge — to honour the harp, the word, and the living tradition they share.
