Lá na Cruite at the Royal Irish Academy of Music

Sunday 22nd October at the Royal Irish Academy of Music

Lá na Cruite | Harp Day at the Royal Irish Academy of Music saw three sold out workshops, where harpers engaged with pedal, Irish and early Irish harp practice as part of the Dublin Harps Alive | An Chruit Bheo | Harps Leevin series.

Harpers had the opportunity to delve into the historical harping traditions of Ireland with Siobhán Armstrong, Simon Chadwick and Eibhlís Ní Ríordáin of the Historical Harp Society, whilst Aisling Lyons introduced ways to push the boundaries of tradition to emerging young Irish harpers. Finally, one of Ireland’s leading exponents of pedal harp practice, Richard Allen, guided RIAM pedal harp students through the complexities of  its wide ranging repertoire.

Our thanks to the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, and the Royal Irish Academy of Music for their support.
